Friendly Neighborhood Reminder

This is just a friendly neighborhood reminder that Rent was due on Monday, November 1st. However, you have until NOON on Monday, November 8th to turn in Rent without being charged a $60 late fee.

Again, Security Realty can start the eviction process as early as Wednesday, November 10.

Quick fixes, tips, and maintence advice to keep your Plumbing System happy.

Problem: Little or no water from the faucet or shower head
  • Check to insure water shut-off valves are completely open. Remove aerators and clean them as needed.
  • Call a qualified professional
Technical Terms:
  • Shut-off valve: a valve that controls the flow of water to an individual fixture, allowing water supply to be stopped to one fixture without affecting the water supply to other fixtures
  • Aerator: a device that exposes air or causes air to circulate through
Routine Maintenance Tips:
  • Toilet paper should be the only paper product flushed down a toilet
  • Maintain water softener according to manufacturer's recommendations
  • Water filters and icemaker filters should be changed according to manufacturer's recommendations
  • Avoid using your garbage disposal if you're on a septic system
  • Drain sediment from water heater tank according to manufacturer's recommendations

Time to Turn the Heat On

Its beginning to feel a lot like Autumn. With the weather dropping in the lower digits, most people are beginning to turn on the heat.

Here are some basic tips and solutions to keep your Heat System and Home happy.

Problem: There is no heat
  • Check for blown fuses or a tripped circuit breaker
  • Replace the drive belt
  • Call a qualified professional
Problem: Your rooms aren't warm enough
  • Replace the filter
  • Clean the registers; remove obstructions blocking register
  • Seal the leaking ducts with duct tape
  • Call a qualified professional
Problem: Soot collects in your house
  • Replace the filter
  • Call a qualified professional
Problem: The blower makes unusual noise when the burner is off
  • Tighten the setscrews of the pulley
  • Replace blower mounts
  • Replace the drive belt
  • Adjust the belt tension
  • Call a qualified professional
Routine Maintence Tips:
  • Replace the filter every month
  • Smell around the appliance for gas odors
  • Visually inspect the exhaust vents for rust, damage, or deterioration
  • Have annual system maintenance service performed one month before heating season begins

Maple Pumpkin Pie

A perfectly delicious holiday treat for Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Serves 8 | Hands-On Time: 10m | Total Time: 3hr 30m

 

Ingredients

  • Basic Flaky Piecrust
  • or 1 store-bought piecrust, fitted into a 9-inch pie plate
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 15-ounce can pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions

  1. Set an oven rack in the lowest position and heat oven to 350ยบ F. Place the pie plate on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin, cream, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and cloves.
  3. Pour the pumpkin mixture into the crust and bake until the center is set, 60 to 70 minutes. Let cool to room temperature before serving.
